Unbridled Energy, the operator, holds a 50 per-cent working interest on approximately 30,000 contiguous acres of petroleum and natural gas rights on the Tsuu T'ina First Nation Reserve, located immediately southwest of Calgary.
This 30,000-acre lease block includes all petroleum and natural gas rights for the subject lands. Coalbed methane production from the Horseshoe Canyon formation is the primary focus, with secondary interest in Cretaceous, Mississippian and Devonian groups of formations.
The two test wells, 4-30-23-3W5M (“4-30”) and 9-21-23-3W5M (“9-21”), were drilled to evaluate the natural gas potential from the Horseshoe Canyon coals and the Edmonton sands; both formations of the Cretaceous age. Based on gas desorption measurements derived from cores and cutting samples, CBM Solutions estimates the eight coal seams present in the 4-30 well have an average gas content of 167 standard cubic feet per tonne (“scf/t”) and the 13 coal seams in the 9-21 well have an average of 179 scf/t. These gas content values are significantly higher than the average for the large-scale Horseshoe Canyon development underway in Alberta. CBM Solutions has also estimated natural gas in place of a minimum of 5 billion cubic feet (“bcf”) for the 640 acre spacing unit associated with the 4-30 well and a minimum 9.6 bcf for the 640 acre spacing unit associated with the 9-21 well. Importantly, the numerous Horseshoe Canyon coal seams encountered with these tests appear to be dry or void of water. Based on the high gas content results from these two wells, Unbridled is now performing stimulation treatments and flow testing the wells. If the production results are favorable, a substantial long-term development program will be initiated over this 30,000 acre property.
Further, as a result of a recent 18.5 square mile 3D seismic survey, the Company believes this acreage is prospective for not only Horseshoe Canyon coals and Edmonton sands natural gas production but also gas production in the Belly River, Cardium, Viking and Blairmore formations of the Cretaceous age.
Importantly, an active five-inch natural gas pipeline exists on this lease block in a north/south direction. The pipeline offers excess capacity and connects to the Shell Jumping Pound gas plant approximately 10 miles to the north of the northern boundary of these lands.
